Walter Harry Pitts, Jr. was a logician and computational neuroscientist. He originated the basis of many theories of neural activity and generative processes, which have greatly contributed to our understanding of cognitive science, psychology, neurosciences, and
neural networks.
He was co-creator, with Warren McCulloch, of the McCulloch–Pitts neuron model. The first algorithmic model of an artificial neuron.
