Anion

A negatively charged ion. The anion is so named because it would be attracted to the anode in an electrolytic circuit.

Pronounced: AN-ion

A good mnemonic to help remember the charge of an anion is to break out the first two letters: A. N. ion, which can then be thought to stand for A Negative ion.
