Excitatory Synapse

In biological neurons this is a synapse that, when stimulated by an input signal, tends to increase the likelihood that the neuron will fire.

In artificial neurons, input signals connected to an excitatory synapse will tend to increase the output value produced by the neuron. Such excitatory behavior is usually accomplished in artificial neurons by modulating the input signal by a positive weight value.
